Choosing a padel racket when your elbow complains

In short: Choose a round racket with a soft EVA or foam core, low balance and a weight around 350–365 g. Avoid hard, head-heavy diamond rackets until your technique and arm are ready.

What changes the jolt

  • Shape: round rackets have the biggest sweet spot, so fewer off-centre hits send vibration up your arm.
  • Core: soft EVA or foam absorbs more impact than hard EVA.
  • Balance: low or "control" balance is easier to swing late in a long match.
  • Weight: too light can be as bad as too heavy, because you swing harder. 350–365 g suits most adults.

Habits that matter as much as the racket

  • Hold the grip loosely between shots.
  • Add an overgrip if the handle feels thin.
  • Let the glass do the work rather than flicking hard with your wrist.

Questions

What is the best padel racket shape for tennis elbow?

Round. It has the largest sweet spot and the lowest balance, so off-centre hits send less vibration to the forearm.

Is a lighter padel racket better for tennis elbow?

Not always. Very light rackets make you swing harder. Around 350–365 g with a soft core suits most adults.
